With Move-In Day just a week away, campus preparations are in full swing as faculty and staff prepare for the return of our traditional undergraduate students. Want to know more about how we’re getting ready to welcome you back to campus? Here’s what a few members of the Trevecca community had to say!

Katrina Chapman
University Registrar

"As registrar, I am preparing for the new school year by making sure new students are registered, checking athletes to ensure they are eligible for the upcoming semester and reviewing veteran student files to ensure their enrollment is submitted to the VA.  I am also coordinating with other offices to prepare for check-in days for new and returning students.”

Director of iWork

“In preparation for iWork orientation, the fall job fair, professional development opportunities, and fielding the FAQs of office walk-ins, I’m spending lots of time solidifying final details on all these events and processes. Much of this work is accomplished through collaboration with the CLCS team, but also includes partnerships across campus with departments such as Student Accounts, Financial Aid, HR, Student Development, the Center for Innovative Instruction, and many more. In order to serve students’ employment needs well, it requires teams of folks working together to accomplish common goals.”

Assistant manager, NINETEEN|01

“At NINETEEN|01, we are getting ready for the school year in several different ways. One of those ways is by ordering fresh product for the rush of students to arrive back to campus. We are contacting our student workers who worked with us last year to put together a work schedule for the fall semester. The managers of the coffee shops are working on solidifying the procedure handbook so that all incoming workers to the coffee shop will be able to excel at their jobs."

Coordinator of Student Engagement and Diversity

“From the minute that students leave for the summer, I start to unpack the last year with my teammates at the CLCS. We analyze what worked, what didn’t work and how we can take what we learned and make the overall student experience better. Then I plan and build for the next year, and I also attend a ton of Nashville community events on behalf of Trevecca.”

Coordinator of the Freshman Year Experience

“August is the busiest and most exciting month for me at Trevecca. It is primarily spent doing making sure peer mentors are prepared to welcome new students to campus, putting finishing touches on Trevecca Field Day, and making sure we have all the necessary sites ready for CityLink Service Day!”

Residence Director, women's apartments

“As a resident director, my focus right now is making sure that residents have a wonderful home away from home that is ready for them on Move-In Day! So I am busy making sure apartments are clean and move-in ready, transitioning summer residents to their fall locations, getting keys and paperwork organized, planning events, and working to prepare resident assistants to welcome their residents!”

Tom Middendorf
Associate Provost and Dean of Academic Affairs

“I think two key words for me are hospitality and training. I work with a great team of people who focus on welcoming new and returning students back to campus, while also giving attention to orienting our new faculty. We serve lifelong learners in the academy, and I have the humble honor of leading efforts for faculty development and training as we enter a new year. We are deep into the prayer, planning and execution of these efforts.”

New Student Move-In Day is scheduled for August 24, and returning students should plan to move in on August 25. We can’t wait to see you!
