Trevecca announces new Homecoming giving tradition
This year, Homecoming isn’t just about coming back home to Trevecca’s campus. It’s also about giving back.
The University recently announced a new giving initiative set to kick off each year’s Homecoming celebration. Give Back Thursday will take place the Thursday before Homecoming. This year’s date is Nov. 3.
The day-long giving event encourages alumni and friends of the University to give $1 for each year since they graduated from Trevecca. The Office of Alumni and Church Engagement hopes to meet a goal of 115 donations, in honor of Trevecca’s 115th anniversary. All donations will go toward student scholarships.
“Since 99 percent of all traditional undergraduate students receive a scholarship when attending Trevecca, we alumni know firsthand the significance of giving back to Trevecca,” said Finley Knowles, associate director of alumni and church engagement. “If you think about it, almost all scholarships originate from a gift by an alumnus in one form or another. Giving to increase scholarships is the singularly most exciting kind of giving, in my opinion. When alumni help to create opportunity for future alumni, that keeps the cycle going.”
Trevecca Gives Back will be promoted throughout the day on social media, and participants are invited to use the hashtag #TreveccaGivesBack to discuss the event and share favorite Trevecca memories and photos.
Alumni can donate at give.trevecca.edu or by contacting Finley Knowles in the alumni office at 615-248-1350.
