Homecoming Recap: Trevecca Award Winners Recognized for Their Lives of Service

Trevecca’s 2023 Homecoming Award winners exhibit tremendous passion in their callings and a commitment to the values that Trevecca holds dear. The winners were presented with their awards on November 3 during the Founder’s Day Chapel service.

Dr. Katherine Koonce 
The Mackey Leadership Award is presented to a Trevecca alumni who have excelled in leadership.
This year’s award is presented posthumously to Dr. Katherine Koonce, head of school at the Covenant School during the March 2023 shooting. Koonce lost her life defending her students and exhibited remarkable courage and true leadership. 

Dr. Chris Adams 
The "T" Award in ministry is presented to a Trevecca alumnus/alumna in a ministry profession who’s exhibited a life of devotion to service and ministering to others.
This year’s award is presented to Dr. Chris Adams. Adams is a pastor, professor and psychologist who has dedicated his life to working for the spiritual and emotional health of pastors and their families. He currently serves as executive director of the Mental Health and the Church Initiative at Rosemead Graduate School of Psychology at Biola University.

Adam Drake presented an award by President Dan Boone.Adam Drake
The "T" Award for a layperson is presented to an alumnus/alumna who is not in a ministry profession and who has exhibited a life of devotion to service and ministering to others.
This year’s award is presented to Adam Drake. Drake serves as the first assistant director on the hit TV show “The Chosen,” and as of this fall is also an adjunct professor in Trevecca’s film and media program. His passion is communicating important stories in impactful ways and educating the next generation about the power of media.

Dr. Corinne Grgas 
The First Chapter Award is presented to a recent graduate who has begun a distinguished professional career.
This year’s award is presented to Dr. Corinne Grgas, a nurse practitioner who has continued her career in the face of substantial obstacles. She was diagnosed with a form of muscular atrophy in 2017, and continues to pursue her passions and try new things.

Jeff Frame presented an award by President Dan Boone.Dr. Jeff Frame 
The Generational Impact Award is given to a current or former Trevecca employee who has impacted students for more than three decades.
This year’s award goes to Dr. Jeff Frame, who has been a professor in Trevecca’s communications department for 33 years. Through his instruction in playwriting, acting and other theatre and film classes, he hopes students will learn passion for the artform and compassion for those around them.

Charles Bone presented an award by President Dan Boone.Charles Bone 
The McClurkan Award is presented to a non-alumnus whose life reflects Trevecca’s values.
This year’s award goes to Charles Bone, a lawyer of 50 years and friend of Trevecca, who has advocated for equal educational opportunities for undocumented students. He seeks to live out his faith by partnering with organizations that live out the call of scripture to welcome the immigrant and follow the example of Christ.
