Trevecca Nazarene University’s Doctor of Education in leadership (Ed.D.) degree program has enrolled its largest group of students on record during fall 2023, accentuating a recent string of successes for a program that also ranks first in Tennessee for Ed.D. conferrals.

Trevecca offered Ed.D. cohorts both online and in person this fall, with a combined enrollment of 70 students across multiple start dates.

“There has never been a greater need for skilled servant leaders in the world, and we are humbled by the opportunity to equip more and more of them through the success of our doctoral program in leadership,” Trevecca Provost Dr. Tom Middendorf said. “These results are only possible because of an outstanding faculty team that excels at helping Ed.D. candidates reach their potential as effective leaders.”

Based on the most recent data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), Trevecca confers the highest number of Doctor of Education degrees in Tennessee. The program has also earned national accolades: it was named the nation’s most affordable doctorate in education and the #3 online doctorate in education by Fortune Education, and it was included in the Princeton Review’s list of the nation’s best online Doctor of Education programs.

Trevecca’s Doctor of Education in leadership degree was launched in 1999 as an on-campus program, and expanded to offer an online format starting in January 2016. The program is part of the university’s School of Leadership and Interdisciplinary Studies. The online Ed.D. at Trevecca offers personalized learning tracks in higher education; consulting and coaching; enterprise leading and managing; health care administration; school district leadership; professional practice; and organizational intelligence.
