Grammy-Nominated Artists from We The Kingdom Share Wisdom with Trevecca Class
Members of the Grammy-nominated band We The Kingdom visited with students in a Trevecca music business class last week to share expertise about their touring experience and musical backgrounds.
Ed and Franni Cash, the father and daughter who are the founding members of the group, visited instructor Joe Piver’s concert management class to discuss what it’s like to be a touring artist. We The Kingdom has completed two headline tours and has substantial experience being on the road.
To summarize his portion of the talk, the elder Cash warned against high expectations.
“Being on a tour bus is not glamorous,” said Ed Cash. “We are created for relationship and being away from loved ones is tough.”
Cash was raised in a musical home and after difficulties with addiction he went on to become a prolific songwriter in the Christian music industry, penning well-known songs including “How Great is Our God” and “Goodness of God.”
Franni Cash began writing music as a teenager, and after a life-changing trip to Nepal, she realized her passion was to help people connect to God for the first time.
“God has used music to heal our family and bring us together,” she said.
The group has achieved great success in a short time, receiving nominations for a Billboard Music Award, multiple Grammys, GMA Dove Awards and winning three of those Dove Awards, including New Artist of the Year.
After sharing about their musical journeys and experiences touring, the two also took time to answer questions from students who aspire to work in the industry.
Piver, who has worked closely with the group since its inception, shared additional insight about working on a tour as well as We The Kingdom’s meteoric rise.
“We had dreams and plans,” said Piver. “And God blew our dreams and plans out of the water.”
Close connections with professionals in Nashville’s thriving entertainment industry are among the advantages for students in Trevecca’s music business degree program. Music business is one of several career tracks available through the school’s Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
