Music City is the place to be for your Independence Day celebration. With lots of fun, family friendly activities to be a part of, you are sure to find something for you.
Nashville is doing it big, hosting the 2017 “Let Music Ring! Music City July 4th”. The events include everything from food trucks to a Kids Zone, to big concerts and even bigger fireworks.
The Broadway Stage, located at 5th & Broadway, is hosting the major concerts for the night, including artists like DJ Robert Luke, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Jonny P, The Sisterhood, DJ Coach, and headliner Chris Young. Young takes the stage at 8:10 p.m., with other artists performing throughout the day. First performances begin at approximately 4 p.m.
For families with children with lots of energy, the Family Fun Zone, located at the Music City Walk of Fame park, opens up free to the public at noon on the 4th. There will be games and plenty of activities for all ages!
The Ascend Amphitheater is just one viewing site for the July 4th firework spectacular, hosting the Nashville Symphony orchestra. The site opens at 4 p.m., with speakers beginning at 9 p.m., and the fireworks show, accompanied by the orchestra, beginning at 9:30 p.m. Some other places around the city that are great for viewing include Riverfront Park, Lower Broadway, Veterans Memorial Bridge and the Walk of Fame Park.
Another great, family friendly event held in Nashville on the holiday is the “Nashville Hot Chicken Festival.” The festival is located at East Park at 7—Woodland Street. There will be live music and plenty of hot chicken, with the event starting at 11 a.m. Get there on time, because the festival closes down at 3 p.m., so families and friends can get downtown in time for the firework display!
If you aren’t wanting to take part in the busy downtown scene, there is also a July 4th event in downtown Franklin, TN. “Franklin on the Fourth” has family fun activities including live music, crafts, food vendors, antique cars and a kids zone. The event kicks off at 10 a.m., with a Children’s Parade starting at 5 p.m. The festival ends at 8 p.m., giving time for families to get to the display of fireworks at the Park at Harlinsdale Farm, starting at 9 p.m.
For those that aren’t into the busy, downtown 4th of July scene, there are lots of other activities for you. Whether you want to take a picnic to Centennial Park, ride city bikes, or stay home to watch fireworks from your backyard, this Independence Day is going to be one for the books!
