On Tuesday, we went to go and see the Dead Sea Scrolls. Now, in the U.S., we learn about the scrolls in our history classes and in Sunday school. We know of their existence and importance, but when you see something like this with your own two eyes, something happens in you.
I experienced something similar in China this summer for a TAG trip. As I stood on the Great Wall of China, I had a revelation moment with the Lord about the spot where I stood. The mountains surrounded me, the clouds were so close it felt like I could touch them, and my feet were on the Great Wall. There I was, interacting with history. It was real. It was no longer just a picture in a book for me. It opened up my mind.
As I looked at the scrolls in the museum, I felt like I had revelation 2.0! Seeing these scrolls, real evidence verifying so many claims in our faith, I couldn't help but feel like anything is possible. I can go places and see things! The whole world has tangible history that I can partake in and moments like this prove it. The world is waiting for me to touch and taste and see it. From artifacts, to mountain ranges, to basilicas, to beautiful people; I want to experience them all. The Lord has made a beautiful world, and traveling like this helps me view John 3:16 in a new light. For God so LOVED the world. When I'm traveling and seeing things I am overcome with this LOVE for the world. Not worldliness, but this wonderful place God imagined and spoke into being. It's moments like these that remind me that I'm committed to pursuing the mysteries of God's heart. Once you step inside and look around, you find it's full of absolute wonders!
