Strange title, huh? These three names have much significance in my life. The first is the town where I grew up, the second is my father, and the third is my mother: all three significant because that's where my legacy began. My worldview began to take shape thanks to these three names.
Two words that express what’s in my heart: Thank you. Thank you, Trevecca, and Thank you, Trevecca alumni.
The Trevecca Celebration in Florida and the Trevecca Alumni and Friends Cruise shared some common features. A lot of laughter. Special memories. Friendly times around a table. Prayers prayed and testimonies given. Funds raised for scholarships. The positive story of Trevecca lives on through these unique gatherings.
Recently I was blessed to reconnect with a friend from my Trevecca days.
As I write this article today, I have been watching the pictures posted by Trevecca of the first week of the fall semester. How long has it been since your first week at Trevecca?
A few weeks ago we had a wonderful opportunity to spend time on Trevecca’s "Front Porch” booth at General Assembly.
What a wonderful experience it was to be able to visit with alumni and friends of Trevecca at the booth and the Trevecca Alumni & Friends Luncheon.
A few weeks ago I answered the phone at my office, and when the caller said hello and began to introduce himself, I immediately recognized the voice of a former Trevecca classmate. A smile crossed my face as I remembered our college days and the memories we shared.
At this year’s Trevecca graduation I saw persons whose dream had come true.
Fulfilling those dreams and completing a degree was the result of a dream AND having a team around them, a team of special people—parents, church family, friends, employers, teachers, and others.
When I was a student at Nazarene Theological Seminary, I worked in a jewelry store and learned about the “4 C’s,” the standards for determining the value of a precious stone. As an alumnus of Trevecca, I realize that Trevecca also utilized a 4-C standard to bring out the very best in its students.
C #1—Christ-centered focus. Christ has been at the center of Trevecca from its founding days—in programs, chapel services, outreach ministries, planning, etc.
