Faith, Family and Volleyball: Skias Hainline’s Journey at Trevecca
Sport management major and volleyball standout Skias Hainline has spent the past three years shaping her future at Trevecca, both on and off the court. Now entering her senior year, the Orlando native has built a legacy of leadership, earning Gulf South Conference All-Conference Second Team honors for the 2024-25 season.
On the court, Hainline cherishes the competitive spirit and camaraderie of her team. “I love being competitive with each other and playing for the person next to me,” she said. As she steps into a senior leadership role, she hopes to model Trevecca’s ideal of a Christian-scholar-athlete. “I want to model well for my teammates what a Trevecca athlete looks like.”
Though she grew up in a Nazarene church, Hainline admits her faith journey needed rekindling when she started college. “Coming out of high school, I had fallen out of my faith a little bit,” she said. “We pray before every game. We do team Bible studies. I slowly started going back to church and thankfully fell back into my faith really hard.”
She helped start a Bible study for Trevecca athletes that now draws 15 to 20 students regularly. One of her favorite faith experiences was attending a worship night with teammates. “My heart was so full when I left that night. I felt so happy that I chose Trevecca.”
Hainline’s college experience has been especially unique with her younger sister, Evvy, also attending Trevecca and playing soccer. “I love going to school with her,” Skias said. “We've always been close, and I was really excited when she decided to come to Trevecca.”
Looking toward the future, Hainline is interested in facility operations with a major sports team or entertainment venue. “We'll see where I get a job,” she said with a smile. “Anywhere I'm hired, I'm going to work really hard.”
Her advice to future students is simple. “You need to just be yourself if you truly want to have real, genuine friendships and real connections with people,” she says. “Say yes to things. There are so many fun opportunities on campus and in Nashville. Just say yes.”
