Jad Bqain headshotJad Bqain, a senior film and television major at Trevecca, spent summer 2026 gaining professional experience in his home country of Jordan. From May through August, he interned with AP7 Media, a Christian media organization based in Amman that creates educational programs, podcasts, music and other digital content for young Arab Christians.

In a recent interview, Bqain reflected on the internship and the other ways Trevecca has helped prepare him for his future career.

How did you first hear about Trevecca?

My connection to Trevecca began years earlier in Jordan, when a Trevecca Around the Globe (TAG) team visited my church. I was leading worship during the service and later spoke with members of the team about my plans after high school. When I shared that I was still unsure of what I wanted to study, the group told me about Trevecca and prayed with me about the possibility of attending. From that initial connection, I eventually applied and made my way from Jordan to Trevecca.

Why did you choose this internship?

I chose this internship partly because I already knew some people in the organization. More importantly, I wanted to learn how to work better with a team. As a film and television major, I understand how important collaboration is in filmmaking, and I wanted to gain practical experience working alongside other creative people.

What was your favorite part of the experience?

One of my favorite parts was our team discussions and brainstorming sessions. I really enjoyed working in a creative environment where we could exchange ideas, learn from one another and collaborate on different projects.

How did you grow through this internship?

I feel like I've grown both spiritually and professionally because of this experience. Spiritually, AP7 Media was a great environment for me to grow in my faith. Professionally, working on a wide variety of projects allowed me to gain experience in different areas of filmmaking and become more comfortable working with a team.

Would you recommend the experience to other students?

Absolutely! I would recommend it to other students, especially those who have the opportunity to connect with the organization. It's a great place to gain practical experience, work on different creative projects, and grow both professionally and spiritually.

Trevecca is more than just a university to me. It's the place where I encountered the living God for the first time, and that experience has shaped my life and helped build my character.

Beyond my spiritual journey, I'm incredibly grateful for my film professors, who helped prepare me for opportunities like this internship. From Adam Drake to Blake Houchin, Dr. Jeffrey Wells and Dr. Jeff Frame, each has played a role in my development as a filmmaker. I'm especially thankful for Seth Conley and the impact he's had on my journey.

My time at Trevecca has shaped me both personally and professionally, and I'm grateful for the people and experiences that have been part of that journey.
