Two Trevecca alumni were recently named district superintendents in the Church of the Nazarene.

Harry Curry Jr. was appointed to oversee the Kentucky District, and Nathan Rogers was elected to lead the Southwest Indiana District.
As a district superintendent, each will serve as the spiritual and administrative leader for the area of local churches they oversee.
The Kentucky District includes more than 100 congregations and the Southwest Indiana District encompasses more than 75 churches. Both districts are part of the USA/Canada Region of the Church of the Nazarene, which includes 78 districts across the United States and Canada and more than 5,000 local churches.
Curry is replacing Brian Powell, who served as superintendent of the Kentucky District since 2015 and recently accepted a call to pastor Cincinnati Springdale Church of the Nazarene in Ohio.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree in religion from Trevecca in 1982, Curry earned his Master of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1985. He went on to briefly serve as pastor at Elkton Church of the Nazarene and Louisville Trinity Church of the Nazarene, both located in Kentucky. In 1993, he became pastor at Louisville First Church of the Nazarene, where he served for more than three decades.
“After 40 years on the same district with the same people, I’ve spent all my years in ministry with the people of Kentucky,” Curry said. “I’m coming in as a shepherd—a pastor to pastors. I want to function in a loving, embracing and listening mode and build a relational network in order to operate effectively and build a sense of community between churches.”
Curry says he is keenly aware of how much pastors need someone to lean on for support and guidance. He is looking forward to serving in this capacity, along with identifying ways to strengthen his increasingly diverse district, which includes a growing number of ethnic congregations, along with churches and parachurch groups focused on offering wraparound support to unhoused populations and those in addiction recovery.
“I’m hoping to build a sense of unity among the churches in my district so we can walk in agreement with the Lord and one another,” he said.
Curry and his wife, Anita, have three adult children and currently reside in Louisville.
Southwest Indiana District Superintendent Nathan Rogers
Before being elected as district superintendent of the Southwest Indiana District, Rogers served as assistant superintendent there for five years. He replaced Timothy Crump, who served as superintendent since 2016.
Rogers earned a Bachelor of Arts in music business from Trevecca in 1999 and entered full-time ministry the following year. He was ordained as a deacon of music ministry on the Indianapolis District in 2005. Throughout his ministry, he has served in worship, administrative and executive pastor roles in Tillamook, Oregon; Indianapolis, Indiana; Nashville, Tennessee; and Columbus, Indiana.
In the last several years, Rogers has traveled extensively across the Southwest Indiana District, preaching, encouraging pastors and meeting with church leaders to strengthen and support local congregations. During the 75th anniversary celebration of this district in 2023, Rogers was recognized as an elder in the Church of the Nazarene.
“I’m praying God would use me as a catalyst for continued renewal throughout our district, leading our churches toward genuine and lasting revitalization,” Rogers said. “I want to support pastors and local church leaders as they seek to discern God’s will for their churches and grow in wisdom as they make decisions. Above all, I pray we would create opportunities for the people of Southwest Indiana to encounter and enter into a relationship with a Savior who loves them deeply.”
Rogers and his wife, Emily, have four children and live in Columbus, Indiana.
