Trevecca to Launch Ph.D. in Leadership Studies to Add to Growing Doctoral Degree Roster

Written by Trevecca Nazarene University | December 11, 2024

In fall 2025, Trevecca will introduce its second Ph.D. program with the launch of a Doctor of Philosophy in leadership studies.

Through state-of-the-art curriculum, innovative methodologies, rigorous research opportunities, as well as the support of a committed and knowledgeable faculty, students will complete the program equipped to engage as researchers, professors and consultants.

The program is led by Dr. Ryan Longnecker and Dr. Jana Roberts, both of whom have been crucial to the success of Trevecca’s School of Leadership and Interdisciplinary Studies.

“This degree is for leaders who are big question people,” Longnecker said. “They don’t just want to look at fixing problems in organizations. Instead they ask, ‘How can I fix this for the world?’”

Building on a thriving, nationally recognized Ed.D. program that focuses on applying research to solve real-world problems, the Ph.D. prepares students to advance the knowledge in the field of leadership more broadly through original research and teaching in higher education.

"Trevecca's new Ph.D. in leadership studies is an opportunity for our students to contribute meaningful research that will shape the future of leadership across industries," said Trevecca Provost Dr. Tom Middendorf. “With a strong curriculum focused on research and innovation, graduates will help solve real-world problems and provide insights needed to lead well in an ever-changing global landscape."

Applications for the new leadership studies Ph.D. program are now open. More information can be found at trevecca.edu/academics/program/phd-in-leadership-studies.
