Trevecca to Celebrate Fifth Annual Giving Day on April 10

Written by Trevecca Nazarene University | March 13, 2025

“Together anything is possible” has been the annual focus for Trevecca Giving Day since it began in 2021. On Thursday, April 10, the University will celebrate its fifth Trevecca Giving Day.

The goal is to engage Trevecca alumni, students and friends in giving toward projects that make a difference. Giving Day has become a tradition that supports scholarships, programs and facility improvements that are crucial in moving the University forward.

To launch its Giving Day festivities, Trevecca will host the Giving Day Gala Dinner on Friday, April 4. This elegant gathering will offer music, fine dining and inspirational storytelling, while a silent auction will provide unique opportunities to support Trevecca and its students. You can become an event sponsor or purchase tickets by visiting the Gala event page.

This year’s Giving Day goal is to engage 1,000 donors to raise $1 million in 24 hours.

“Gifts of all sizes are meaningful because, collectively, they’re vital for initiatives that address  needs all across our campus,” said Vice President for University Engagement Peg Cooning.

Giving Day donations may be designated to support any of these initiatives:

Area of Greatest Need

As the number of students attending Trevecca grows, the need for additional campus resources and personnel also increases. Funds raised in this area will go toward immediate needs in the current school year including faculty salaries, classroom equipment and technology, instructional materials and campus improvements.

Athletic and Event Center

The need for expanded athletic facilities has never been greater due to the growth of Trevecca’s intercollegiate athletic programs coupled with a recent move to the Gulf South Conference. The new Trevecca athletic and event center will serve more than 400 student athletes, provide greater opportunities for the student body and offer flexible space for campus and community events.

Calling Cooperative

Gifts toward the Calling Cooperative will support the Becoming Conference, a residential summer experience on Trevecca’s campus where high school students can explore where God might be leading them through education, service, worship and recreation.

David Deese Broadcast Center

Funds raised for the broadcast center will improve broadcast and media equipment and provide hands-on learning for broadcast students, preparing them for the job market after graduation. Donations will also help name the broadcast center after David Deese, assistant professor emeritus of broadcasting and communication at Trevecca.

“Epworth Table” Podcast

The Center for Wesleyan-Holiness Formation plans to launch a podcast called “The Epworth Table,” which will provide listeners with engaging and accessible resources on Scripture and the Christian life.

Film & Television Professional Learning Experience Fund

This fund provides film and television students with financial assistance for approved professional learning experiences, including film and television conferences, film festivals, filmmaking workshops, documentary production projects, travel to out-of-town studios and visits to professional film sets.

Graduate Program Leadership Development Fund

Donations in this area will help empower students to grow as leaders through professional development, innovation and leadership excellence. This fund also supports a partnership between Trevecca and the Mt. Juliet Police Department that helps police officers advance their leadership skills through specialized coursework at Trevecca.

Health Sciences Initiatives

Gifts this year will provide assistance to nursing students who need financial support to complete their degrees, along with assistance to nursing students who need help purchasing required medical equipment. This fund will also help Trevecca pre-healthcare students host a fall 2025 health fair for underserved children and their families in the Napier community near Trevecca’s campus.

Rebecca’s House

Rebecca's House is a food pantry program that provides healthy food alternatives to Trevecca students while destigmatizing food insecurity on campus. The program has served more than 1,500 students since it launched in September 2022.

STEM Initiatives

Gifts made this year will support the Stephen Silliman STEM Scholarship, which attracts high-achieving students to Trevecca’s undergraduate STEM programs. Giving also will support the Wendel and Judy Nixon STEM Endowment, which offers research and innovative/entrepreneurship projects to STEM students.

Student Scholarships

Scholarships meet a crucial need for financially struggling students who may otherwise be unable to complete their Trevecca education. Scholarship gifts can be given to a list of current or endowed scholarships or to a specified scholarship of your choice. Last year, more than $400,000 was given to scholarship funds to assist students on their educational journeys.

Teacher Education Assistance Fund

This fund assists students who are struggling to afford the extra costs required to complete their education program and gain licensure, such as required fingerprinting, yearly insurance to cover students in their field experience and the required Praxis (licensure) exams.

Trevecca Urban Farm

Trevecca Urban Farm educates and employs young people to be faithful stewards of God's creation through building community and school gardens; planting fruit trees; hosting visiting students on farm tours; offering summer farm camps to youth; providing summer paid employment for local youth; and sending Trevecca students on agricultural mission trips to assist Nazarene mission partners.

Waggoner Library Student Resource Fund

Trevecca students rely on the library for studying and accessing key resources that are otherwise too expensive to purchase. Funds this year will help purchase a new DSLR camera, whiteboards and rechargeable portable generators that allow students to use their computers in areas where electrical outlets aren’t readily available.
