Trevecca students Jedidiah Blomberg, Emily Gibson and Yudieth Rios formed one of the top-performing teams in the annual Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Investment Challenge for the 2022-2023 academic year.

The Investment Challenge, a TVA workforce development initiative, allows university student teams to actively manage stock portfolios by designing long-term investment strategies, placing trades and providing performance reports to TVA.

Trevecca’s trio of business students, led by Dr. Jea Agee, successfully managed a portfolio worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. During an especially challenging year in the competition––2022 was one of the worst-performing years for the stock index in the last 90 years––the Trevecca team became one of only 11 teams to be recognized for surpassing the performance of the S&P 500.

The Investment Challenge promotes economic development by helping strengthen the Valley’s educational infrastructure, a vital component of future economic growth. At the same time, the program makes a direct contribution to the training of the region’s future business leaders.
