Dr. Yolanda Statom, director of teacher education and initial licensure certification officer at Trevecca Nazarene University, has been appointed to the board of directors of Professional Educators of Tennessee.
With 32 years of experience in education, Statom has served as a public school teacher, literacy coach and administrator. She currently serves as the Middle Tennessee Representative for the Tennessee Association of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges of Teacher Education (TAILACTE) and as a member of the University of Tennessee Dean’s Board of Advisors for the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences.
Statom is also an assistant professor in Trevecca’s School of Education. She earned a master's degree in library and information science and a doctorate in leadership and professional practice from Trevecca, where she also completed an endorsement in instructional leadership.
Professional Educators of Tennessee (PET) is committed to creating quality educational experiences for children, with an emphasis on safety and achievement. The organization provides educators with legal and liability protection, advocacy on statewide education issues and resources to support teaching and learning in the classroom.
Statom’s appointment to the board reflects her longstanding commitment to education and her dedication to supporting educators and students across Tennessee.
