The online option for Trevecca’s clinical counseling, teaching and supervision Ph.D. program has earned accreditation from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The face-to-face option has been accredited since 2015.
Dr. Susan Lahey, director of graduate counseling, sees this new online accreditation as an opportunity for Trevecca to equip students with the tools they need to lead, serve and impact their communities in and beyond Middle Tennessee.
“In a doctoral program like this, we’re training leaders, not just counselors,” Lahey said. “We are training people who will be educators at universities and supervisors in a variety of settings. An accredited online option expands our reach across the country.”
In-person and online students will be part of the same cohort as they journey through the program together. Both delivery modes offer students the opportunity to interact in synchronous class options, research projects and discussions with experts. The online option requires a 2–3 day residency each semester and includes asynchronous and synchronous learning times.
The Ph.D. in clinical counseling equips students to become competent mental health professionals, counselor educators, supervisors, researchers and leaders in the field who use their skills in service to others.
