Dr. Ruth Corey Discusses Importance of Nurses on NewsChannel 5+

26-Blog-Photo-Posts_Ruth-Corey-Newschannel-5Dr. Ruth Corey, Trevecca’s director of nursing and Nursing Department chair, appeared on NewsChannel 5+’s “MorningLine” recently in observance of National Nurses Month, discussing the importance of nurses and the role they play in patient care.

The segment, which originally aired on May 18, featured Corey in conversation with host Nick Beres. During the interview, Corey shared perspectives from her experience as a nurse, educator and nursing leader, and discussed Trevecca’s work in preparing future nurses.

Corey joined Trevecca in 2022 to help establish the school’s four-year Bachelor of Science in nursing program. Her background also includes experience as an executive director of nursing, nursing research scientist and family nurse practitioner.

Trevecca offers multiple pathways for students pursuing a future in nursing, including a traditional on-campus Bachelor of Science in nursing program and flexible hybrid options for adult learners. Through Trevecca’s Accelerated Nursing Pathways, students can earn an Associate of Science in nursing, prepare for RN licensure in Tennessee and continue toward a Bachelor of Science in nursing. Licensed registered nurses also have the option to complete their Bachelor of Science in nursing through an online hybrid program.
