Dr. Ronald Barredo Named Dean Of Trevecca’s School Of STEM & Health Sciences

Ronald Barredo headshotTrevecca Nazarene University will welcome Dr. Ronald De Vera Barredo as the new dean of the School of STEM and Health Sciences, officials announced today.

Barredo brings extensive clinical and academic experience to Trevecca. A licensed physical therapist since 1990, he has clinical specialties in geriatric and cardiopulmonary physical therapy, and carries a fellow designation with the American Physical Therapy Association, the American College of Healthcare Executives and the National Academies of Practice. He’s served in all faculty ranks and in department chair, assistant dean and dean positions, and has taught at the associate, baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral levels.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Barredo to Trevecca,” said Trevecca Provost Dr. Tom Middendorf. “His extensive background in both clinical and academic settings will build on the successes of our STEM and health sciences programs, ensuring that we continue to equip our students with the necessary skills for groundbreaking careers in these fields.”

Trevecca’s School of STEM and Health Sciences brings a holistic, forward-thinking approach to education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, offering a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate degrees.

“I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to collaborate with the talented and dedicated faculty and staff at the School of STEM and Health Sciences,” Barredo said. “As an alumnus, I have a deep appreciation for the high standards Trevecca maintains for its community. In my role as dean, I am eager to foster growth, expand our innovative programs and enhance the comprehensive learning experiences we provide. Together, we will empower students to pursue their passions and make a meaningful impact in their fields.”

Barredo earned a master’s in organizational management and an Ed.D. in professional practice from Trevecca. He also earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professionals in Provo, Utah. He has held teaching and leadership positions at various institutions, including Arkansas State University, Kaskaskia College, Langston University and Rocky Mountain University. He most recently served as dean and professor in the College of Health Sciences at Tennessee State University.

Barredo will officially begin his tenure as dean of Trevecca’s School of STEM and Health Sciences on August 1.
