Our last full day in Colombia was spent exploring and further appreciating God’s creativity. Colombia is such a gorgeous country, and sadly the pictures don’t come close to capturing it. The colors are so bright and vivid, and the mountains are unreal.
Our mission host, Corporación Social Y Deportivas de Colombia (COSDECOL), is located in the valley, and we were incredibly spoiled with our everyday view, but on the last day we decided to drive an hour and a half to see a different side of Colombia. The other side had many lakes and was away from the big cities.
EL PEÑOL
We went to El Peñol, a giant rock with stairs zig-zagging up it and climbed 659 steps to the top to have a breathtaking view.
After our hike up El Peñol, we drove to a nearby city and ate a traditional plate for lunch. The food there was consistently amazing. Even though they could be considered more simple dishes like rice, beans, and meat ... it’s the best rice, beans, and meat I’ve ever had.
The rest of our final day was pretty laid back. We watched a u20 men’s team train at the complex then had our going away dinner. Again with the hospitality; other coaches joined us as we ate our last meal and then shared some words at the end. We received our COSDECOL shirts as a way to remember them and for them to show their appreciation for us all coming here.
EBENEZER
To end the night our team met one last time to share some thoughts and reflect on how the trip impacted those we interacted with as well as ourselves individually. We were each given a rock and took a moment to write a word or phrase of what the trip revealed to us. This idea is from 1 Samuel 7 when the Israelites defeated the Philistines and is referred to as Ebenezer.

MORE ABOUT COSDECOL - http://cosdecol.com/en/
The Christian Union Sports Club (known as Corporación Social Y Deportivas de Colombia = COSDECOL) in Colombia is a nonprofit corporation to unite the Colombian youth with Jesus Christ through soccer.
Soccer is an integral part of Colombian culture, and many seek soccer professionally in the hopes to use it as a way out of poverty. Our programs help to facilitate this dream while creating disciples for Christ.
Our goal is to lead them to a relationship with Christ, support them through a Christian community and help them to become contributing citizens of the country.
