As Thanksgiving break comes to a close, Christmas is near, and the new semester is approaching. High school students, particularly seniors, should now be getting pretty far along in their college decision process.

According to Jared Austin, the senior admissions counselor at Trevecca, while searching for the right college choice, high school seniors should be narrowing down their search to three or four options.

“By Thanksgiving break, students should have sufficient knowledge of their top schools in regards to student body size, community atmosphere, academic program options, and tuition cost,” said Austin.

By the end of November, students should have already completed their applications to specific colleges, and signed up or completed campus visits for each college they are considering. Seniors should also have sent their test scores to Trevecca, filled out the FAFSA, and applied for private scholarships.

According to Trevecca’s admissions office, it is important for students to see the process through to the end. As prospective students, you cannot see particular college options in full detail unless you complete the application process.

“By completing the application process, a student can better understand where he or she stands in the admission and financial aid processes,” said Austin.

After November draws to an end, students should work to narrow down their college decision even more, consider retaking the ACT/SAT to improve test scores, and continue applying for private scholarships. Trevecca has Experience Trevecca Days available for students throughout the year, as well as during the spring, which is a beautiful time to visit campus.

The final step in the application process is to start preparing health forms and making sure immunizations are up-to-date. Trevecca’s application for Fall 2017 enrollment is free and available on our website.

“Trevecca is a special community,” said Austin. “We have the academic rigor students need for post-bachelor degree success. The Christian environment and the personal-touch services provided by faculty, staff, and administrators truly lead to student success. If a student comes here with an open mind-set to receive all that Trevecca wants to invest in him or her, a successful graduate is in the making.”
